Baby Benjamin our 4th Little Boy

Image
I realize I'm super late on this blog post and have really lagged this year on blogging, but I found a few minutes to sit down and write Benjamin's birth story before I forget! So grateful to have this blog to look back on the memories and reminisce. It's definitely my online journal! As most know, I've had HELLP syndrome in 2 of my previous pregnancies which puts me in a high risk category. It's a strange category to be in when my pregnancies are fairly normal up until the very end. But, regardless, I live on a rural island and the doctors here refused to see me this go around and sent me straight to Oahu. So there I flew every month for my OB checks. It was a bit of a hassle but I knew if I had issues again, that Oahu was where I needed to be to safely deliver baby boy.  My mom was an angel and watched the boys for me at least once a month for these trips, although because I was followed by high risk doctors as well, I often went 2 or even 3 times a month. Grate...

My Baby in Heaven

Worst day of my life was June 28th, 2015. The day I lost my sweet baby. I was only 6 weeks pregnant, many want to say I wasn't even pregnant, it didn't even count, there wasn't a baby that soon, that it's life was not precious. I despise those notions and grieve for the innumerable amount of Moms out there who have heard those cold, calloused lies. It was June 21, Father's Day, when I decided to take a pregnancy test as I was a week late and just felt like I was probably pregnant. We were shocked to see two lines! We were planning to add to our family but not at that point, and honestly with Jameson going through his teething stage and nursing every 2-3 hours day and night, I just assumed there was no way it would happen. But we were happy! We were actually so incredibly overjoyed! God's plan is bigger then ours and if he wanted our babies to be 16 months apart then so be it. We were trusting Him 100%. During that week of joy, we shared with a few people and m...

When the Poop Hits the Fan- LITERALLY!

Day 4 in the bag! Phew, barely. Today was too classic not to blog about, so hopefully it brings a smile to your face. :) Woke up this morning with serious tummy issues only to find both Elijah and Jameson feeling under the weather.  Cancelled our Thursday playdate and we lounged around hydrating and just taking it easy (OK they were taking it easy, me, on the other hand, that's a joke. I am a mom of 3 littles after all. I was playing Mommy Nurse). Around 11 we sat down to do school. Now, Elijah's participation is hit and miss, which I completely expected.  He is always game for music time (he is a dancing king after all) and game time. But today he decided he wanted to join for all of it.  So little Mister with his pensive mind asked "Why?" only 80 gazillion times today.  We stopped and had a snack every 10 minutes (Elijah is my hungry boy after all) and a few water breaks (thirsty boy too). Get my drift? Lots of breaks and pauses with him a...

School Days

Today we started homeschool! After several weeks of researching, planning, organizing and prayers- we are finally beginning! We chose  Heart of Dakota's  Kindergarten curriculum this year and will include Elijah in as little or as much as he seems interested in. We will also be adding in several things to enrich the curriculum such as Magic School Bus shows,  Kids of Integrity  devotionals from Focus on the Family (I highly recommend checking these out for families who do or don't homeschool) coloring pages, history timeline, seasonal/holiday extras etc.  I am so excited to see what God is going to teach ALL of us this year.  Here's a look at our first day: ~ Started out waking up at 6:15 to notice my lovely husband was still sleeping next to me and not at work. He surprised me with a day off to help with the first day! I was over the moon about that.  I had planned on getting up before the kids to have some tea, read my Bible and prepare for my da...

The Riley 5 These Days

Life is crazy! Crazy good, crazy busy, crazy all the time! March was a wonderful month, we celebrated Chad turning 30 the whole month long. Started off with a great trip to Disney's Aulani Resort in Oahu.  Our first vacation as a family of 5.  We all had a blast.  If you haven't been, you should make it a goal to travel there someday.  It is not Disney overload, it is tastefully luxurious and made for families of all ages.  The Gutierrez family came out for a visit next which was a blast! Topped off his birthday month with a Luau at The Four Seasons Hualalei (a gift from my parents).  And lots of celebrating in between! Kai finished up the Tee Ball season last month.  He has a blast and we look forward to watching him play next year.  He is now back to swimming and in soccer.  We are trying to coax Elijah into playing soccer with him, he's still a little unsure.  Everyday I get to spend at home with my babies is a gift! They are growin...

Jameson Jude Riley

He came out screaming! Definitely the most vocal baby out of the 3. As soon as Chad brought him over to me he stopped crying and opened his eyes and starred at me.  It was amazing! My pumpkin boys born 4 years and 3 days apart! Elijah finally held his brother once we were home, he was not quite sure about him at first.  He's here! Our newest addition was born October 18, 2014 at 9:20 a.m. weighing 7 lbs. even and 19 inches long.  He is our perfect peanut! He came early, my little 38 weeker, totally surprising us and taking us off guard. My c-section was scheduled for the 22nd, and we were planning on using every last minute to prepare ourselves and our house for his arrival.  Never did I think he would make an early appearance! Here is his birth story... I woke up Friday the 17th with a bad migraine.  Sat around most of the day drinking water and trying to get my migraine to go away.  Tylenol wasn't helping and of course takin...

Can't Forget These Sweet Moments!

Image
My sweet boy. My firstborn son who blesses me on the daily.  I don't want to forget this sweet phase (hopefully he'll never stop) so I had to write myself so I remember.  EVERYWHERE we go, he finds me flowers and picks them for me.  Now this ins't something new necessarily, but the intention behind it definitely is.  He loves pleasing his Mom, we have a sweet special connection and something about seeing me smile makes his heart burst. We will be in the Costco parking lot and will manage to find a weed growing between the asphalt and he'll present it as a beautiful flower.  It's the dearest thing.  He shares with others as well.  A couple days ago in the middle of his swim lessons he leaned out of the pool and pulled his swim teacher a flower.  His kind heart and loving spirit is sure to give me lots of sleepless nights once he is older, ladies are going to flock to him (I mean, they already do!). Thanks baby boy for being the love...
