A Birthday Letter to Mama's Baby
My boy! You are 2! Oh my, time flies. I like writing you and your brother and Daddy letters for your special days so you have something to look back on and understand what was going on at each period in your life. And so you know how much I love you and how that never changes from year to year. The modern baby book! :) The day you were born was magic. Daddy and I knew exactly what to expect, we really felt so prepared and ready for you. We were calm and even taking selfies in the hospital while we waited to go back to the OR. You had been giving me lots of hints you were coming for months, but you were good and stayed in my belly until our scheduled day. Keeping us on our toes even before you were born! I saw your face and instantly loved you, all the worries about not being able to love two babies the same completely went away. I loved your cry, I was praising the doctors and nurses and just filled with so much joy. I wept on and off for hours after that and was maniacally joyous. I was itching like crazy from surgery, but I was happy. I was in pain as the drugs wore off, but I was happy. Nothing could bring me down from that high. We bonded right away and you met your brother right away. His eyes were big and bright and he was so happy too! Do you see a pattern here? You brought us so much happiness from the moment you were born, and continue to do so daily.
What an easy baby you were! You and your brother made it easy for Dad and I to want more kids. You love showing off and making Mom, Dad and especially Kai laugh. You adore Kai, and he cherishes you. I love spoiling you with kisses when you fall down or get sad. I look forward to rocking you before nap time and singing with you and praying for you. I love your enthusiastic "AMEN" at the end of prayers . I love your silly smile when you touch things you shouldn't be touching. I am obsessed with your vocabulary and your willingness to try anything. You eat anything and everything and never tire of doing so. So far you are my healthy child, loving your protein, fruit and veggies and not minding too much for sweets one way or another. (Please stay that way!) You hug Kai tightly everyday and the smile on your face when you hug him is as bright as the sun. You are all boy and love anything related to dirt, machines, cars, trucks, monsters, etc. I will be surprised if you aren't some type of crazy athlete having colleges and pro teams lining up at our door to sign you. Your ability to throw a ball has always scared me a little, especially when Im not ready for it! My little tank! Not only are you a tank, you also have a will that no one can break. Such a strong and stubborn boy. I don't worry about you sticking up for yourself. I actually look forward to you sticking up for your brothers- Kai can use some help in that area, and you have plenty of backbone to share! :) Sometimes I get sad that you won't be the baby of the family for much longer, but then I think about how wonderful of a big brother you are going to be. I know every baby is a joy and brings so much happiness into a parents life, but something special about you is that you really encompass all that joy is. Your heart is filled with gladness over everything and anything, and you remind us to just be happy everyday. Thank you for adding so much to my life, you are beyond what I could have imagined.
