It's Another Boy!
Once again we heard the ultrasound technician say, "It's a boy!" We were so excited when we were heard those three words! Of course we said things like, "Oh, it doesn't matter, we just want a healthy baby" and "We don't care what the sex is, either way we are happy" which are somewhat true. However, to say that we were secretly wishing it were a little boy is an understatement! How exciting is it going to be to see Kai grow up with a little brother only 20 months apart. They'll be the best of friends and the biggest enemies at times. But the fact that our children are going to have a playmate for life is so exciting! We were also hoping to be able to use all of our boy stuff again. We received so many boy clothes weather it be through hand me downs, gifts, or (let's face it) my obsession with shopping for Kai! I just could not imagine never getting to reuse those things. Especially because most of the the clothes Malakai has grown out of were only worn once, if at all! People say with girls it's bad, ha! They should see his closet! Spoiled! Or as I like to put it, blessed :) it sounds better that way.
Yes Mr. Malakai is going to have a baby brother. We are thrilled! We are tossing around a few names but are planning to keep it a secret until he makes his appearance in late July. It's so exciting feeling the little guy starting to move around inside of me! What a blessing it is. I usually only feel him at night when we are putting Kai to bed, singing him lullabies. It's almost as if the new baby is saying, "Hey guys! I'm here too and can't wait to get out and join the family." So cute! My heart overflows with love and joy during those quiet moments with my three boys.
Being pregnant with a one year old is not the easiest thing I've ever done. There's no resting or relaxing for Mommy when it's go go go with my little ball of energy. But Kai is at such a fun stage that it makes it easier for me to get out of that warm bed and play with him all day, minus his 2-3 hour nap time in the afternoon which is a huge blessing to me. I wouldn't be updating this blog if it weren't for naps! The great news is that baby is healthy as can be and although I am dealing with exhaustion and nausea/ sickness quite frequently, I am hopeful that as I approach the middle of my pregnancy it will be all butterflies for a while, just like the second trimester is SUPPOSED to be. Come on baby, come on body, let Mama have a little rest please!
Well, that's about it for now, almost time for Kai to wake and have lunch. It's a grilled cheese and soup kind of day in the Riley house! Love the winter weather but definitely looking forward to our trip to Hawaii in two weeks! Sunshine, beach, sand and palm trees... life is good!
