Christmas Letter

Well it sure has been a wonderful year! We have been blessed beyond what we deserve. Here are some highlights from the last 12 months...

January- Chad and I took a trip to Napa Valley where we enjoyed a long weekend of wine tasting and fine dining! We had a blast. Here we are at Far Niente, one of our favorite tours and tastings.

February- We found out we were pregnant! Quite a bit of shock at first but after reality set in we were so excited!

March- Chad turned 25! I surprised him and took him to Vegas. A second surprise- our friends Courtney and Jason met us there!

April- Deja Vu! Bre turned 21 so we headed to Vegas again! We stayed at the Encore hotel and had a blast living it up!


May- We had our 20 week ultrasound and found out we were having a boy! Chad was relieved- to say the least! ;)

June- We were on the Newlywed Game Show June 30th and won the grand prize! An all expenses paid trip to Costa Rica! We will be traveling there in June of 2011 with Kai and are thrilled to go for free!


July- Big month! For the Fourth we took a trip to Havasu with our friends Randy, Marcai and Noah. Here the boys are in the jeep heading to get us a spot on the beach.

Also in July- We celebrated our one year anniversary as a married couple back at the Ritz Carlton for the night. We swam, dined, lounged and had an incredible time there, as always!

August- I turned 24 and Chad took me to Ruth's Chris. He bought me the diaper bag I had been wanting from Nordstrom's. Let's just say my wish list this year was a little different then previous years :).

September- I went on maternity leave and we became increasingly anxious and excited to meet our little pumpkin (not to mention uncomfortable!). Chad and I took one last trip to Havasu over Labor day were we were able to relax and spend some quality time together before the craziness began.

October- Malakai Michael Riley graced this world with his presence on October 15, 2010 at 4:28 p.m. He was born via C-section weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 18.5 inches long. He came out alert and curious from day one. Here he is just hours after he was born...

November- We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Grandpa and Grandma Riley's San Clemente Beach House. Kai experienced the ocean for the first time and loved it. Here he is at three weeks giving Mommy that infamous smile...

December- And here we are in December, absolutely having a blast with our son! Christmas tree lot...

Chad and I love Christmas more then what we should probably admit and therefore have gone all out to give him a special first Christmas.

Most importantly, we look forward to the coming years when we can teach Malakai the Christmas Story and that the real celebration is in the fact that Jesus came to this earth to pay the debt of our sins and give us eternal life. Feeling Inspired!

I am feeling inspired today! I love making homemade baby food for my beautiful boy! I really can't say enough about the huge advantage making your own baby food is. The price alone is an immediate seller. I buy organic, locally grown produce and spend about 15-25 dollars which lasts me at least a month. If we were buying the same amount of jarred organic baby food we would be spending about 100 dollars a month. Big difference! I also love knowing exactly what goes in my son's (cute) little tummy. No preservatives, no food dye, and no processed food for him. Another big plus is that I can introduce him to flavors and foods that are unique and typically not found in your average baby food. Currently, I am steaming some yams, zucchini, chicken, green beans and rosemary-all certified organic and yummy of course. I call it "R oast Chicken Dinner" - fancy huh? I will then dish them into my BPA free ice cube holders and freeze. After that, I'll make yams, peaches, pears ...

Recent Events

Time is rolling on and life is rolling right along with it! Yesterday was our official 1 month anniversary, it seems so small compared to 8 years of loving each other but still, celebrating never gets old! Rachel started her new job yesterday as a perioperative RN and UCI. I have never seen/ been a part of a more amazing hospital and the benefits are incredible, by far the best hospital around! I feel blessed to be a part of their periop team. We have a robot called The DaVinci that surgeons use to preform Urological surgeies ! It's a little overwhelming but we will learn and we will be great Rn's once we are done with our training program. This is a picture of my homemade pizza. The dough was even homemade ! It was a 2 hour event, I got a little stressed attempting to flatten the dough out after we had already flattened and then balled it up again. Note: After you roll the dough out DONT start over, just keep it flat, folding it over onto itself is a disaster...

When the Poop Hits the Fan- LITERALLY!

Day 4 in the bag! Phew, barely. Today was too classic not to blog about, so hopefully it brings a smile to your face. :) Woke up this morning with serious tummy issues only to find both Elijah and Jameson feeling under the weather.  Cancelled our Thursday playdate and we lounged around hydrating and just taking it easy (OK they were taking it easy, me, on the other hand, that's a joke. I am a mom of 3 littles after all. I was playing Mommy Nurse). Around 11 we sat down to do school. Now, Elijah's participation is hit and miss, which I completely expected.  He is always game for music time (he is a dancing king after all) and game time. But today he decided he wanted to join for all of it.  So little Mister with his pensive mind asked "Why?" only 80 gazillion times today.  We stopped and had a snack every 10 minutes (Elijah is my hungry boy after all) and a few water breaks (thirsty boy too).
